Alice Hasen's "Ghosts in the Water" Drops Friday, October 30

Alice Hasen's "Ghosts in the Water" Single and Video Drops Friday, October 30

From recording at Young Avenue Sounds in January to shooting the footage for a music video just weeks ago, Alice has been working on a massive single that is about to jump start your Halloween.  "Ghosts in the Water" is a fun, funky ghost story that takes place on the shores of Moon Lake, Mississippi.  A friend of ours who acted as an extra in the video told me it was "the most fun ghost story I've ever heard."  But don't let the upbeat, dancy tone fool you - the lyrics are full of dark shadows and spooky sights!

After pulling off Highway 61 with a flat tire, the narrator recounts the tale of a night on Moon Lake, where she encounters terrifying demons on the beat, spirits in the trees and a "daughter of temptation" voodoo child. Halfway through, the song enters an extended jam. The ghostly violin, Hammond organ and fiery electric guitar (played by the Blackwater Trio's own Walt Busby) build a crescendo that is equal parts Allman Brothers and Dave Matthews Band. A Memphis horn section provides a punchy climax. If you are not already in the Halloween spirit, this song will get you all the way there, and then some!

"Ghosts in the Water" by Alice Hasen goes live on Friday, October 30, accompanied by a music video by Nolan Dean.  You can stream, view and purchase on alicehasen.com and all online music platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.

Frogfest 2018

Getting pumped up to headline Frogfest 2018 in Leland, MS!  This festival celebrates the town where Jim Henson spent his childhood.  Leland eventually inspired him to create Kermit the Frog and all the other Muppet suspects.  Did anyone else ever see Muppet Treasure Island?  That movie SPOKE TO ME as a kid.  Anyway...

We also have the honor of playing with bassist Steve Auttonberry and drummer Eric Fowler for this show, making it a truly FULL BAND Blackwater Trio experience!  These guys have sharpened their teeth around the Leland area, too, so come get your fill of chili, pumpkin painting (what what!!) and great music.  Josh Journeay opens at 10 AM and Zach Day follows at 11.  Blackwater Trio takes the stage at 12:30 PM.  Be there!

Playing the mainstage tonight at the 35th Annual Octoberfest in Cleveland, MS!  Our set starts at 7 PM, we'll be selling and signing our album immediately afterwards!

Cooper Young Fest!

So excited to be kicking off 831 S. Cooper's lineup for this year's Cooper Young Festival in Midtown, Memphis!  Last year, I (Alice) bought three beautiful wooden cutting boards and a himalayan salt lamp as gifts.  I live not far from Cooper Young, but I realized my mistake when I put all my goodies into my backpack and started to walk home.  It was killer heavy!  Don't make the same mistake as I did -- support local artists and then just come hang out at 831 S Cooper, where the lineup includes Blackwater Trio at 2 PM, the Tony Manard Band at 3 PM (I'll be a guest fiddler in that one), Devil Train @ 4 PM, and more!

BAR DKDC Tonight!
